Jesyka Vetter is the Director of the Irish Step Dance Program at the Academy of the Arts. Jesyka started dancing when she was 4 and studied Ballet. She danced under the direction of Wendi DuBois and was a member of the Youth Dance Theatre in Chelsea Michigan (currently Ballet Chelsea). In 1999 she started taking Irish Step Dancing from the Heinzman School of Irish Dance (now Ardan Academy of Irish Dance). While she was there she danced with many guest instructors, the female lead from The Lord of the Dance Asia tour, Ms Anne whose school in Ireland has produced many world champions. In 2001 she went to a Dance Workshop (Rince Ceol) in New York where she took classes in dance and music from the dance captains and lead dancers from Riverdance. (Cara Butler, the Irish Dancer in the Folgers Coffee commercial and female lead dancer from Riverdance was one of her instructors!) In the competitive world of Irish Dance, Jesyka competed until the age of 20 and was a Preliminary Champion and competed at the Mid-American Oirechatas (regional competition) 3 times before hanging up her competition dress. In 2004 Jesyka started teaching at the Academy of the Arts. She loves sharing her passion for dance with her students and loves learning from her students as they learn from her. Kids really do say and do the darndest things!!
In the spring of 2013 Jesyka took the role of Studio Manager at the Academy. She enjoys the new challenges this role has given her and has loved getting to know the dance and gymnastics families!! “There isn’t a better place to call my second home!! I am so blessed!!”
Jesyka resides in Jackson MI with her husband, Sean and two dogs Tonks and Wrigley.
