Erin Miller is the Ballet program director for the Academy of the arts as well as the Jackson dance company. The Academy of the Arts is so thankful to have Erin on staff! She does an amazing job year after year!
Erin is formally trained in both the Cecchetti and the Russian Vaganova methods of ballet. She has performed in multiple ballets, including: Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake, Coppelia, Paquita, Midsummer Nights Dream and The Nutcracker. She earned her bachelor’s degree in secondary education from Western Michigan University with majors in English and Spanish and a minor in dance. Erin continued her studies earning her master’s degree in education from Oakland University.
After completely her college education, Erin taught Spanish and dance at Allegan High School and Brandon High School. During this time, she also choreographed and co-directed multiple high school musicals, including: Westside Story, The Wiz, Music Man and Annie.
As the AOTA Ballet Program Director Erin has developed the Academy of the Arts ballet curriculum for students to grow and thrive in their technique training and studies. In 2012 Erin choreographed and co-directed AOTA’s performance of The Nutcracker, which continues to showcase ATOA and JDC students bi-annually. As the JDC Ballet Company director, Erin’s choreography has received multiple high awards and honors at many nationwide dance conventions, including: Dancemakers Inc., NUVO, and 24 Seven. Many of Erin’s students have continued in their dance careers professionally, performing and or instructing.
Erin resides in Jackson with her husband, Pat and three children – Jack, Sam and Claire.
